Desolation

See her walking on the streets

Shoulders slumped head bent

Her torn bag of worldly goods

Strapped on her shoulders

Leaving a dent

As she walks

You can see the pain of her misery

Stamped on her shoulders

And engraved on her forehead

That’s bowed in defeat

As she trudges on

You can see the desolation

Her footprints leave behind

A constant reminder of her heartache

Etched on the dusty footpath

Her silent cries

Ricochet in noisy traffic

Competing with blaring horns and noisy hawkers

Silent but loud enough for anyone to hear

She is heartbroken

And her will to live is broken

But still, she trudges on

Hoping to out walk her desolation.
